This isn't going to end well. The elites have responded to populism with self-righteous authoritarianism. Populism happens when the elites are dismissing the concerns of ordinary, non-powerful, people. They've responded by telling the masses to fuck off even more loudly. I suspect the polls for the midterms are inaccurate, as in 2016. The pollsters call people and ask who they're going to vote for, but the equally important variable is how likely are they going to vote. They were way wrong about that in 2016 and I think they're wrong now.
