  1. The president has an official interest in investigating election integrity and fraud. So get bent Smith. Furthermore, everyone has a right to challenge an election. That's a first amendment right to "redress the government for grievances."

  2. This just comes off as real desperate. They're breaking all of the DOJ norms to do this. They have a rule to avoid the appearance of election interference, i.e. they would normally just wait 2 months until after the election to announce and indictment. And normally they would respect other court rulings, eg. the Supreme Court and the Judge Cannon ruling that Smith's appointment is illegal. And if Trump wins, the case goes bye bye anyways. This is pure desperation.
