  2. Supreme court rulings aren't supposed to be on a left/right basis, but the Constitution and the classical liberal principles in it.

  3. Both sides play politics with it, of course. But the left is worse, because they use this backwards reasoning. To them, it's the goal that's important, not how you got there. For example, they all decry Citizen's United, for allowing money in politics. But the First Amendment does't allow restricting political speech. The Court's role is the exact opposite. They're only concern should be whether a campaign finance law is constitutional.
