In the humanities only the very elite universities are any good. You can get an engineering or science PhD at an average university. But say philosophy, at an average university is going to be a joke.

If it is a "right wing culture war", then it's appropriate. Because the left has been highly successful at infecting major institutions with their neo-Marxist, "woke" ideology. This includes, schools, universities, government agencies, corporations, military. Wikipedia has been changing articles, to fit this narrative. The "cultural Marxism" article was renamed "Marxist cultural studies", and now if you go to "cultural Marxism" it directs you to "cultural Marxism conspiracy theory". They're labeling what is actually happening, i.e. institutions infected with neo-Marxist ideology such as crt, as a "conspiracy theory", as a political move.

@sylviam6535 Someone I knew who was doing a PhD in philosophy, thought that you had to do it at one of the top 10 departments in the US. And consider that the top 10 universities in the US are better than anyplace in most countries. Just some British universities are just as elite. He wanted to go to princeton but didn't get in, and went to U. of Michigan. It's true most universities will be doing the Marxist cultural studies, critical theory, mumbo jumbo.
