  2. She could have taken the children to western or southern Germany where they would have been safe from the Russians. Magda's eldest son Harold was in southern Germany and might have been held for a short while by the allies. I heard the numerous people were trying to convince Magda to not kill them, and to let them take her children to safety. In Downfall, Speer is shown trying to convince her. But I think others, such as Hannah Reich, who left the bunker with Ritter von Griem for Flensburg, also offered to take them.
