  6. After reading these USSR versus USA comments it's clear that the USSR was driven and achieved some early advances in space exploration. But the USA out did them in pure technical achievements and ability. USSR-first orb in space versus USA-first spy and weather satellites. USSR-first dog in space versus USA-first onboard computers.

The US could travel beyond low earth orbit while the USSR just succeeded at creating some of the largest chemical explosions.
