  1. "Revenge" actually presupposes that he was harmed by his opponents. So they know what he's doing is justified. But he can still take the high road, because the Trump prosecutions were legal nonsense. They had to actively try to overturn constitutional and common law precedent.

  2. The thing about these investigations is that the Democrats set the precedent of severe punishments. E.g. they sent 2 Trump administration officials to prison for refusing to participate in the Jan 5 dog and pony show. They already sent them all the info they knew. That' is something that is normally not prosecuted like that. Eg. Obama officials routinely refused to testify in congress.

  3. They're not "targeting" these people. For example, Letitia James did that fake Trump bank fraud case, where the judge made a directed verdict (no jury). They just looked at her bank records, and she lied repeatedly on mortgage applications.

  4. Prosecuting people for actual crimes is not "lawfare". What they did to Trump was lawfare because they weren't normal cases. They were all invented crimes.

  5. He's probably right about the campaign violations. Those violations were normally resolved after the election with fines. It was only with Trump that they tried to prosecute false campaign records as a serious crime. So they made a rod for their own back.
