It's going to get much worse for Sam Harris. The expert class he respects installed an incompetent dotard who has made everything worse in just over a year.

They closed the beaches, parks, and filled skate boarding parks. But covid didn't transmit outside. It was transmitted inside. So they forced people to spend the day inside where they can spread it.

@Guy_de_Loimbard When your business is podcasting and the internet, there's no advantage living in an over regulated high tax state. The money that Rubin or Shapiro spends flying guests to Florida is much less than what they'd be spending in CA.

@ianinkster2261 There's the viral video of protesters at the entrance to Trump Tower with a banner "Lock up Trump for his crimes". Someone asked him "What crime has Trump committed". His response "Um, um, um...well ahhh...we're done." There's something wrong with these people.

Pakman is ridiculous. He does these videos where he shows fake concern about Trump's mental condition because he mispronounced a couple words after giving an 8 hour rally. Then he gaslights "It's just crazy and disingenuous that anyone would thing Biden has mental decline."

I'm just blown away at how an intelligent person can consider Trump a danger on par with Hitler. Trump hasn't done anything. Hitler is considered bad because he started a war which killed 30 million, if you exclude the Pacific theater. And how are the people he says he trusts, McCain, Romney, Bush, better? Bush started a war which killed a million.
2
“he looked like someone who would do that” Of all people you'd think he would avoid that prejudice. Jeffry Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, etc.
2
I used to listen to his discussions and debates all the time. But quit all together after 2016. Things like the podcast where he said he had more respect for Osama bin Laden than Trump. And that Hitler had more virtues. I don't waste my time with cranks like that.

The Trump presidency was a period of peace and prosperity, better than the Biden term. The Biden administration is simultaneously weaker and more authoritarian. The current conundrum, is that the "expert class" which is in charge now, is grossly incompetent, and absolutely convinced of its moral superiority.

@Theactivepsychos Those conservative justices are the last hope for preventing leftists and Democrats destroying the Republic. An attorney general who will send the FBI after his political opponents, is 1000x more dangerous that some yahoos storming the Capitol, which has happened many times. Riots are a common occurrence in the US, and Jan. 6 wasn't particularly bad. Antifa rioters set off a bomb at the Portland federal courthouse, which gave people working in the building hear damage.

@SalivatingSteve Gas prices went up long before the Ukraine war. They went from $2.4/gal average when Biden entered to $5.00/gal. Dropping to $4 isn't an accomplishment. Same with the Stock market. It crashed 25% early this year, then went up 15%. I still lost wealth since Biden entered, when I was making 20% per year under Trump. Crime is also spiking with murders way up in cities, particularly Democrat strongholds. Every think Biden has done has made things worse. The bungled Afghanistan withdrawal was also quite a shameless display of weakness, incompetence, indifference to the lives of former partners.

It's annoying how in America "liberal" means leftist. They were saying "How come in the most liberal state we are most restricted." It's because it's a Democrat/leftist state. They want the government's power to be expansive. Every group gets to add a rule to the list at the beach. Oregon and Washington aren't quite as bad...yet.

@dickmonkey-king1271 Trump did what he said he was going to. Defeated ISIS, Got the unemployment rate to a 50 year low, worked on trade deals that put US workers and business at a disadvantage, didn't get the US involved in wars. How is that less predictable than other presidents?
1
@dickmonkey-king1271 It's not like there were any speeches or a book for anyone to read to know that Hitler wasn't a good guy. He was already Fuher in 1933. Most people (I suppose not Sam Harris fans) consider dictators to be bad. The Night of Long Knives were murders.
1
@dickmonkey-king1271 Part of the reason Trump won in 2016 was aversion to Clinton and the Democrats' authoritarianism. And that's one of many things that's going to sink the Democrats in 2022 and 2024.
1
@dickmonkey-king1271 He used the same travel ban list Obama did which included N. Korea and Venezuela. And didn't include the Muslim countries, Saudi Arabia, that have good US relations. Because it was about whether they cooperate with the US regarding crime and terrorism.
1
That's the joke. They portray him as this far right extremist. But if you listen to him, he a total centrist moderate. The Democrats also wanted to close the borders to illegal immigration, until about 10-15 years ago.
1
Pakman's whole approach is disingenuous. For example, he spent 3 years reporting uncritically all the Russiagate nonsense vomited by the MSM. Then after the narrative collapsed he pretends that he was never a part of that.
1
@blurglide "We know Trump is an asshole." The current president snickered when a reporter mentioned people were falling from airplanes desperate to get out of Afghanistan. He's also called "Pedo Peter" by Hunter in their social media exchanges.
1
The "experts" were also saying the US economy would be hurt (irreparably) by Trump's election. Paul Krugman (Nobel Prize economics): "the economy will never recover from a Trump presidency." But then unemployment dropped, GDP growth increased, and the stock market went up. It's genuinely astounding how someone lauded, like Krugman, can be wrong more consistently than someone with a highschool education. He also predicted, around 2000, that the internet would have an insignificant effect on culture and economics.
1
I never was impressed by Paul Krugman. He always sounded like a mediocrity. Every single one of his NY Times articles is in favor of high government spending Kensianism. But then he never intelligently makes his case. He just complains that it is obviously true to any smart person, and the people opposed to it are just bad racist people. The masses are correct to be suspect of elites. It's some phenomenon of being educated beyond your intelligence. Another person like that is Rachel Maddow; a Rhodes scholar, who promotes the goofiest conspiracy theories on her show. She routinely hypes up mundane stories, even when she knows better. Just a couple days ago it was "The Trump white house edited out part of the press audio for the meeting in Helsinki." It was the press pool copy, unedited. And of course, it wasn't even over anything. She thought they edited out the question to Putin "Did you prefer Trump in the election?" Everyone knows the Russians prefer Trump, or anyone who's not a neocon, over Clinton.
1
In 1998 Paul Krugman wrote: "By 2005 or so, it will become clear that the Internet's impact on the economy has been no greater than the fax machine's." That's not just wrong, it's one of the most ridiculous statements I've heard.
1
One can be highly educated and really dumb. Krugman actually recommended that Greenspan cause a housing bubble in 2004. Dubya may be dumb, but he's not that dumb.
1
@hammertimez717 The Dem state COVID shutdowns were basically a wash. Some things had some benefit, but they made up for it by putting covid patients in nursing homes and killing all the old folks. Fortunately, their political mandate faded when Biden got in, and despite vaccines and anti-bodies (developed under Trump), the death rate was basically the same.

Dave Packman is not an honest actor. Micheal Knowelles made the same mistake--thinking that he has good faith discussions. Michael brought up US code 18 which says it's illegal to protest at a judge's home to influence a case. And Packman pulled out all his evasive techniques on this very simple fact, that the protests are in violation of this law. "It's not clear that the protesters intend to influence the judges", "I have a lawyer friend who told me the law doesn't apply", "Michael, you're not a lawyer", "It's a boring question". He will not honestly address any question which challenges his opinions.
1
"What should I call his obvious dictatorial tendencies?" Your self delusion. We had more federal government authoritarianism under Biden.
1
What policies of Trump's were not moderate? Decreasing illegal border crossings, Energy independence, Low inflation, Growing stock market, Critical race theory kept out of public schools and public employment, A foreign policy of staying out of wars, and carrying a big stick to prevent them. Those are the interests of middle class America. The Democrats are now the party of the dirt poor welfare dependents and the wealthy elites. Conversely, what we have now is a moderate face (Biden), who is just a puppet, of a radical regime. Biden has reversed each of the above.
1
Commies are always crying "fascism!!!", because communism promises freedom, but always delivers oppressive centralized government authoritarianism, aka fascism. It's the same psychology as the closeted gay guy who's always saying he's straight.
1
@denerobbins6563 The closest to fascism the US has gotten was under the Lincoln, Wilson and FDR administrations. A politician who wants to shrink the federal government is anti-fascist.
1
Packman is only different than other socialists in that he puts on a show of civility and pretense of good faith. If you look up debates between Breadtubers and moderates, conservatives or libertarians, it's a straight up personal attack put on to impress their followers, with no debate taking place.
1
Except free speech and the bill of rights are socially conservative today. That's one reason the Democrats lost. " because that's what he was told to do" His cabinet picks defy what the GOP establishment would tell him to do. His Matt Gaetz and Tulsi Gabbard appointments couldn't be more anti-establishment.
1
Sending people home is not typically fascist.
1
I'd say that Sam Harris saying on a podcast that he had more respect for bin Laden and Hitler, as people, than Donald Trump, destroyed any pretense of moral high ground. It also showed that he's credulous toward the fake news media complex.
1
Kimmel takes directions from the network on his politics. All these leftist issues are corporate sponsored. This shows the clear advantage of working for yourself. Adam Carolla is his own man, while Kimmil is kind of a prostitute.
1
I always wondered why people like Thunderfoot through a fit over Brexit, but were fine with Scotland leaving the U.K. The EU is just an organization, like the UN, while the UK is a nation that has existed for centuries.
1
That's exactly what the Democrats want--that elections are just ceremonial. Because they're busy demonizing populism as a terrorist threat. It's the same reason Haley is staying in the race at less than 20% support.
