Be careful. Youtube is about to start banning sarcasm. New hate speech guidelines.

This makes me think of the required vehicle inspections they have in many states. In MA they weren't going to pass this '78 Chev van I had, until I fix rusted through rocker panels. But that's just cosmetic. This car has frame rails made of rust an bondo.

When I was a teen in the 80s, I had a ford Motorsports magazine, with all the Ford manufacture racing parts. And it was all blocks, head, etc. based on the Boss 429.

I think these cars are always as is. I built a 69 Mustang when I was a teen from about 3 different cars. One of the 3 was a project someone was building something to race. I think the original tags from that one was for a 6-cylinder, but the suspension was from a big-block car. The two other cars were a 69 Fastback of my dad's that was wrecked and a 69 Grande. I still got 5000 for it in the year 2000.

A lot of aerodynamics is counter intuitive. Some drag cars have the scoop with a smaller opening and large "plenum" over the carb. I think they operate on the principle that the air slows down after the opening widens and increases density in the process. One might think a larger opening would catch more air.

I have a Ford Explorer 2000 model, 5.0 fuel injection, and it only gets 17 mpg at best on the highway. But it's more like 15 mpg usual. It's still better than my dad's Ford truck with a 7.5 liter which gets 9 mpg.

@KeithsReviews My experience from over 20 years ago, after my dad's 69 which I was acquiring was totaled, and I looked for another similar car, was that most of these "classic" cars are garbage. Most were owned by some white trash guy who had stupid hood scoops and crap held on with coat hangers and duct tape. I ended up buying a complete Frankenstein, but with strong parts. I think it was a 6 cylinder rust free fastback body, but with 428 suspension, and the engine out of the previous one, because I didn't need the 500 hp engine the guy had in it. Or, I should say "muscle" cars. Those cars used to be dirt cheap 30 years ago. So the vast majority are either trashed garbage or professionally restored.

Newer cars are an end result of the thousands of more automobile regulations, regulating safety features, emissions, bumpers, and crash safety.

I heard there were only about 800 Boss 429s produced. So it never really was a production car, and the Boss 429 wasn't really a production car engine. I had a Ford Motorsport catalogue from 1988 and all the engines, heads, etc. were Boss 429.

Why would you put a drag racing transmission in a show car? If it had an ordinary manual, you'd just cram it in low gear in such a situation.
1
Someone should try welding two slant-6s together to make a V12.
1
Is it safe being under there? That car is being held up with bondo.
1
If you have supercharger or a turbo, that makes 15 psi, then effectively you've doubled the displacement. Some dragsters run at 30 psi, which triples the volume.
1
These are all just cold air intakes. To increase performance you'd have to increase the pressure at the carburetor or injector intake. That's not even possible with those set ups; the air-cleaner can't hold pressure; it just goes out the other intake under the hood.
1
A souped up 2-stroke uses the same principle, but with the exhaust. That's what the fat exhaust pipe on a dirt bike is for.

So he got to see God, and came back?

It looks like you're better off finding dumpy looking 68 with a straight under body, i.e. hasn't been wrecked, and transfer the good sheet metal and body parts from this one. I did that when I was a kid and my 69 Mustang got wrecked. I also made sever thousand by selling the extra parts; I had parts for 1.5 cars.

These two clowns played out the Good Ol' Boys Winnebago gag from the Blues Brothers. Jake put glue under their gas pedal. So their rig went out of control. But as a viewer, you're wondering why they were too dumb to kill the engine.

What about cancer?

Being 17 without a lot of money, I just built a measly 302 for a Mustang. But in 1987 it could still pass just about everybody, in an era of slow production cars.

This means I will probably never own a collectors car. Once I thought I would like to have a 308 Ferrari. Iconic and pretty but nothing extreme. I figured one would be worth $20 - 30,000, but when I saw the adds, it was clear a lot of people were thinking the same thing as me, and they were going for way higher than it's objective value.

Their obsession with CO2 is so great, that they're pushing cars which, can burst into flames when damaged, use very expensive batteries which are dangerous to store or transport, rely on lithium mining which is strip mined in Africa. I think liquid natural gas is a good alternative for cars.

It always bugged me that these engines, along with the Japanese engines of the time, had the exhaust and intake on the same side.
1
Why not install a pan with a big front slump that holds like 8 quarts, so sloshing can't empty the pickup area?
1
What was the price of the car new? It's obviously a scam if the price of a replacement battery is more than the whole car.

When I was a teen, in 1980s, I had a 69 Mustang with just a small block. So I bought a Ford Motorsports catalogue when I was rebuilding the engine. And most of the racing parts and engines were Boss 429. So it did have a run, just not in production cars.

@KeithsReviews It depends whether you care. The original 69 Fastback mustang I got from my day was all original. But the new one I built was a total Frankenstein. But I was able to build it from a car, and garage full of parts, I bought for $1200. I got $6200 from the insurance of the guy who hit me, and totaled the original.

Cars are like movie special effects. As they have advanced in technology and ability, they have lost their ability to impress.
1
I had a 69 mustang as a teen, and I could never consider the fox body as a mustang. It's basically a honda with a V8; no style to it, whatsoever.
