I think these cars are always as is. I built a 69 Mustang when I was a teen from about 3 different cars. One of the 3 was a project someone was building something to race. I think the original tags from that one was for a 6-cylinder, but the suspension was from a big-block car. The two other cars were a 69 Fastback of my dad's that was wrecked and a 69 Grande. I still got 5000 for it in the year 2000.

@KeithsReviews My experience from over 20 years ago, after my dad's 69 which I was acquiring was totaled, and I looked for another similar car, was that most of these "classic" cars are garbage. Most were owned by some white trash guy who had stupid hood scoops and crap held on with coat hangers and duct tape. I ended up buying a complete Frankenstein, but with strong parts. I think it was a 6 cylinder rust free fastback body, but with 428 suspension, and the engine out of the previous one, because I didn't need the 500 hp engine the guy had in it. Or, I should say "muscle" cars. Those cars used to be dirt cheap 30 years ago. So the vast majority are either trashed garbage or professionally restored.

@KeithsReviews It depends whether you care. The original 69 Fastback mustang I got from my day was all original. But the new one I built was a total Frankenstein. But I was able to build it from a car, and garage full of parts, I bought for $1200. I got $6200 from the insurance of the guy who hit me, and totaled the original.
