@cacamalapasa1508 "he signed a legal doc saying he returned all docs" Then why didn't the NARA go to the storage room and get them? You must know that Trump doesn't actually move boxes. He told people to return some documents. Then the Archives complained that they didn't get something they wanted. That could mean one of about 5 things. 1. The staff made a mistake with packing. 2. The documents were privileged, attorney client, etc. 3. The Archives was mistaken about what was there. These issues arise with every president. What has changed is the bureaucracies have never been so politicized.

The president doesn't even have the "nuclear codes". They just give him/her a card with a two word confirmation code that he tells the general as a confirmation when he orders the strike.

@fredschnerbert1238 They're considering what happened when people try to sue Clinton over taking documents. This question went to court when Judicial Watch sued for documents president Clinton took with them. The court ruled the following: 1) The president has sole discretion on classifying or declassifying documents. 2) The president has sole responsibility for the process of declassifying documents and how they are handled. 3) The Archives has no authority to question the president's decisions. 4) The fact that the president took the documents with him is DeFacto proof that they are not presidential records. This was a court ruling.... Not someone's opinion! If they prosecute, they're not going to win.

@cacamalapasa1508 "to declassify requires changes in the markings" Not for the President. The classification is a Commander in Chief power, as ruled by the SC. Therefore, it's impossible that a bureaucracy has a higher authority on classification. Those rules apply to everyone else.

"The FBI does good work." LOL Like busting the people who found Ashley Biden's diary, that she left in a rental house. They didn't even steal it, she left it there.

These manufactured Trump scandals are always based on fake media narratives. Here it's "nuclear documents". The affidavit doesn't even mention "nuclear". The DOJ leaks BS that will set off the Democrat low IQ base. They're still even excited that Trump will go down for having Top Secret documents, because they don't know the constitutional powers of the president for declassification.

@cacamalapasa1508 The president carries a card with a couple code words to confirm his identity. But as the OP said, an old one would be useless. Even if an enemy knew the code words, they would know where the president is.

This is such a joke of a scandal. The president has ultimate final authority to declassify, not the FBI, NARA, or the DOJ. The president is just going to declare anything he takes to be declassified.

I know. This is such a joke. It would be like someone showing their suspended drivers license, claiming that it's legal because it says so.

It's not. These Trump scandals are always based on media BS that's based on lies leaked by the agencies, here the DOJ, to the media. They want you to think there is some "process" to declassify. There isn't for the president, because it's a constitutional authority.
