I think Garland made a big mistake with this. Even the OLC could have told him that this is a civil matter, not criminal. It's like he just forgot that Trump is an ex-president, so the legal situation regarding classified documents is completely different. And that he was breaking a 245 year precedent. I don't think he has any charge that would stick. For the Espionage Act, they would have to prove that he gave information to a foreign country with the "intent of harming the US". There's no chance of that.

@MsBeachgirl10 Um...no. Garland is in trouble. He'll never prosecute Trump over a document records issue. Democrats didn't even know that the president has absolute authority to declassify. Garland wont be able to prosecute, and wont be able to dispel the obvious -- that this was a political hit job.
