I think that's being quoted out of context all the time. I think Goebbels was referring to what he thought was the technique of the Jewish press, rather than saying that he was a liar. Everybody claims to tell the truth.

He was a staunch Republican. The snubs were probably because the Democrats were very racist then. They reached out to him to campaign for the Democrats, but he supported the Republicans. I also read that in the NYC ticker tape parade some nameless person handed him a paper bag with $10,000 in it. That's equivalent to $200,000 today.

So everyone basically knows what happened to her. But that's why many Nazis went to the western and southern areas. But many, such as Traudle Junge, the secretary who dictated Hitler's will, were eventually captured by the Russians. But they let her go after holding her for a year or two. Some Germans might have expected revenge from the US and British soldiers, but it didn't really happen (except for some concentration camp guards be summarily executed).
