What I've always wondered is what made Hitler think he could survive a two front war. Perhaps he could conquer the USSR. But it's absurd to think that he could do that while holding off an air war and ground invasion from the USA and UK. And worse, because there's no war in America, there's no shortage of resources such a petroleum, and arms production.

And with Blitzkrieg he was successful, but was successful at conquering weak counties to the west, where the people have a completely different temperment then in Russia, where they took 10s of millions of deaths and still had the will to fight. Ubermensch furher, my ass.

The new technology made history, but later during the cold war. The V2 was the basis of ballistic missiles and the space race.

South Africa was settled by the Dutch, which are about like the Germans.

@francisskundaliny1295 The advances in technology, such as the first jets, and the V2, mean little, when your factories are getting bombed and supplies such as petrol are running out. Also those technologies weren't a game changer, like the atom bomb.

@morriszachrisson8359 He would have had to. The USA was supplying the USSR since 1940. Except, he couldn't. Germany was invaded and defeated on two fronts.

@Radwyn Althor Suppose he thought the USA would stay neutral and never come to the aid of France and the low countries. But Japan basically forced the US into the war. So it was his Axis partner who ultimately caused the Western Front. (Having to hear French people complain for 78 years wasn't enough of a deterrent.)

Germany would have eventually been defeated. The west was supplying Russia with arms. Germany has no oil fields. And worst case scenario it would have taken atomic bombs.

Why aren't they getting drunk?

@tomh2425 Japan forced the US into the war, and declared war against Germany immediately after Germany declared war on the US. Entering the war was being debated in the US, until Japan bombed Pear Harbor, then Congress voted unanimously to declare war on Japan. I suppose Hitler thought the US would stay out. But Japan didn't cooperate with that.

@Hllr4zor And we forced them to surrender 4 years later. So how was that wise of them? We didn't embargo them for the hell of it. They were taking over China and indochina.

@Matthiasschweizer We were just too mean to cuckboy Hitler.

@sabine4759 He wouldn't have gotten as far as he did if he were mentally ill. Being a dictator is more difficult than say president or prime minister. There were many assassination plots. And he had to be very strategic in his rise to power, such as eliminating threats (Night of Long Knives) and exploiting opportunities (Reichstag Fire).

@tedcleveland8488 I thought that was the intentional Third Reich propaganda. There's no transparent media in a dictatorship. So I'm sure the radio and newspapers are giving stories about Hitler bravely defending Germany from the aggressive Stalin.

I didn't know Hitler had a double.

Is he wearing makeup?
