This whole thing is so ridiculous. The media talking points only make sense if you don't know that the president has plenary power to declassify. I constantly hear "Trump stole classified documents. And he will pay for that crime." But Trump had the authority over classification, not the DOJ and not the Archives. A trial would be an embarrassment for the DOJ. Trump would testify that they were declassified. And there's no rebuttal to that. The DOJ or Archives don't have authority over classification. Then Garland would get chewed out by the judge "Didn't you know that you had no criminal case."

@valeries5722 But they can't get him on possession of classified documents. It's annoying that the media keeps lying about this. I keep hearing from CNN/MSNBC viewers nonsense like "He needed permission to declassify." No. He didn't. Other agencies and personelle do, but not the president. Merrick Garland is treating what is a civil matter (presidential document storage) into a criminal matter. I don't really know if he's Machiavellian or a doofus. This could go to the SC and he's going to be humiliated.

@valeries5722 I'm watching Laurence (stop the hammering) O'Donnell right now lying about this. "DOJ has proved these documents classified." Outright lie. If Trump says they were declassified. and the DOJ says they're classified, then Trump wins. The president has the final authority not the DOJ. "The documents were kept out in the open unsecured." A lie. There's a SCIF at Mar-a-Lago. And if they're declassified, then that hardly matters.

The media constantly lies by omission. The president has plenary power to declassify. So if there is an argument between the DOJ or archives and Trump over whether something was declassified, Trump will win. Only the president has ultimate authority over classification.

@NWstockoperator What that means, is that Brandon could get his removed after 2024. Just imagine the meltdown, if in 2025 the same thing is done to Brandon, by pres. Trump or Desantis, and Biden administration documents are combed through.
