  2. +Michael Black   Harris didn't lose the "debate".   Harris emailed Chomsky asking for some clarification of some ethical issues in Chomsky's writings.  But Chomsky wouldn't engage.   Chomsky is an example of what Dave Rubin is talking about.  Chomsky knew that Harris thought differently about issues.  But rather than engaging in an exchange of ideas, he sought to shut down the conversation.

  3. +Michael Black   Chomsky is an obscurantist.   His whole testiness over really basic ethics, the role of intent, was so he could argue that the Al Shiffa bombing was "worse" than 911.   And I use quotes because he gives himself enough wiggle room to sidestep criticism, that he knows he was going to get.   Obscurantism is used by pompous writers.   They want to make bold sounding assertions.  But they intentionally remain unclear so they can deal with criticism.
