Sometimes the phrase "classical liberal" is used to refer to those concerned with individual freedom. It does confuse the debate all the time, because progressives have move toward authoritarianism.

  4. +chris chaffin That's a case similar to Obama saying he "doesn't want to confiscate your guns." But then he's praised laws in other countries which have done just that. People support or oppose a candidate for what people think they're for, not just what they say.

  6. +Critz McGritz Yes, I know. People will stop working when they get to the 90% rate, and will only do things that will not be taxed at that rate, i.e. an investment with stock options. So revenue will go down, not up. If the 90% rate kicked in at 10 million, someone who normally made 20 million a year, would just work 6 months, and for the remainder work for stock options or something not taxed at that rate. So the government's take has gone down, not up.

  7. The amendment was considered necessary during Prohibition, because banning something would be a power of the individual states. Similar with pot. The federal government passed the Marijuana Tax Act, banning it through a tax policy, because banning the plant would be up to the individual states. What I wonder about when people discuss the war on drugs, is that there isn't a single country where dealing street drugs is legal. Marijuana is legal in about 4 countries, and that's it.

  9. +1993bassmasta I have no idea if the accusations of rape are true. But isn't strange that feminists like Amada Marcotte are so defensive of Bill Clinton. Someone who wanted to lynch men, the Duke Lacrosse players in particular, who were proved innocent. WTF?
