  2. +K Russell Harris gives a very good example of dealing with them. It doesn't work with private conversations. But when it's a public exchange people get to see that one side is childishly trying to put the breaks on any meaningful discussion.

  7. +valgehiir   Fox is actual smarter than TYT.   Megyn Kelly is obviously not dumb.  And they have knowledgeable commentators such as Krauthammer.  The idiotry of PC liberals, such as TYT, is that for them "dumb" means holding non-PC views.  Thus the negative reactions of Cenk and Affleck to some of Harris' ideas.

  9. This same argument goes against other religions, such as Christianity, but if God is great, why did he allow a crane to fall on pilgrims at Majid Al-Haram, the holiest site in Islam, and allow 100 pilgrims to tragically die?

  12. +Mark Hummel   The thought experiments are extreme cases, because that's what you have to consider if you're going to reach a conclusion such as "Torture is always immoral.".   Because it's clearly immoral to torture someone when no lives are at stake.  The same goes for preemptive war.  Most people agree that the Israeli airstrikes on the Iraq nuclear reactor were justified.  Because Saddam would likely use any nuclear weapon on Tel Aviv.

Cenk always does what Sam Harris criticized at 1:25.   He doesn't differentiate criticism of the doctrine of Islam with bigotry toward Muslims.   Also, he doesn't like Harris because Harris made him look intellectually inadequate when he came on his show.

  14. +Troy Kadikoff   It's effective in that the accusation of racism sticks with other SJWs.   After this Bill Maher episode there were shows on MSNBC, TYT and the View with hosts agree with Affleck that it was "Gross and racist".There are other examples.  Atheism-plus feminists spread rumors that sexual harassment is a problem at atheism conferences.   That also involved smearing Harris, Dawkins, and Hitchens, and other less known people, as sexists.  Gamergate is the other obvious example.  They were immediately smeared as being a misogynistic and racist campaign, even though half of gamers are women, and many are minorities.

  15. Why is Islam the religion that progressives have decided should be handled with kid gloves?   It's not as if Muslims turn the other cheek when their religion is attacked, to put it mildly.   What inspired progressives to play the white knight for Islam in particular?
