The fact that Floyd said "I can't breath" about 4 times before the police put any hold on him, indicates that the fantanyl was causing difficulty breathing.

Cait L. It wouldn't excuse that. What might excuse that, is that it's official, trained, procedure in Minneapolis. The media never reported any facts. Because as they say, when things are bad for us, they're good for them.

@Vrex360 How do you reform the police with out bringing up the facts? This arrest was, by all objective accounts, by the book. But the activists, don't really want to improve anything, they just want to burn shit down and loot. The guy died of a Fentanyl combined with meth. He also lied to the cops, telling them the foam in his mouth was because of playing basketball. That delayed them calling an ambulance.

zorbas091 That was standard official hold in the Minneapolis police department. Looked unnecessary to me. But you're not convicting someone of following trained procedure. And the murder charge is a joke. There was no murder. The called for an ambulance and Floyd died of fentanyl, combined with meth and a heart condition, before they arrived.

This incident reminds me the the Covington High School kids incident in DC. People jump to conclusions without having the facts. Most likely the wrongdoing in the case doesn't even rise to a criminal level. The police can't be expected to do everything to save someone having a bad drug reaction when they wont tell them that their problem is drugs.

@Nytephyre The activists (BLM and usual Marxist zealots) never explain how these incidents, such as the Jacob Blake incident, show systematic racism. Those two cases aren't even among the worst regarding police brutality. It's looking like the Blake case was legal--he had a knife and wouldn't drop it.

@theotherswan3573 I think it's clear that they didn't intend to kill. It was at worst an accident. The murder charge wont stick. It will be insane if we get a reverse OJ situation, where they wrongly convict him of murder. It would then get overturned on appeal, most likely.

@scarabus3413 No. It's not a "half-truth. Floyd was repeatedly saying "I can't breath" long before he had any type of hold applied. He said it at least 4 times before he got on the ground, and before Chauvin put his knee on his neck. That was even in the long available transcript. But the media has an agenda, and doesn't do any research whatsoever.

@scarabus3413 It's in the unedited video. The original video released just showed the incident after Floyd was on the ground. It is also in the body cam transcripts which were released soon after the incident. The media didn't report it.

I think what happened here was that Floyd ate a bunch of drugs because he was being stopped by the cops. It even came up in the trial (or, not really, because the judge excluded it) that Floyd had a previous arrest in which he swallowed drugs and had to go to the hospital.

I would bet money that the officers will not be convicted. The charge is 2nd degree murder. Floyd was saying "I can't breath 20 minutes before they put him on the ground". They put him on the ground because he refused to get in the police car saying "I can't breath". He also told the police he was sober, so perhaps they thought "I can't breath" was another lie. But there is more than reasonable doubt that Floyd died of a Fentanyl overdose. Fentanyl, combined with meth, COVID, and a heart condition, most likely killed him. And, like it or not, the knee on the neck was an official Minneapolis police restraint hold. There are many, much more egregious cases of police brutality, to make as a basis of police reform. This case is way overhyped. There was a guy choked to death, a guy with schizophrenia killed after calling the police for help, and a guy executed crawling on the floor in Arizona. Those cases were much worse than this. The victim wasn't a junkie ODing, or a felon. Racial optics appears to be the only reason the Floyd case, like the Mike Brown case, are hyped by the media to the extreme.

@kevinvassago He had a bad heart. And also had meth in his system. He was saying "I can't breath" because it was suppressing his breathing. He OD'd in a previous incident, where he was stopped and ingested drugs to avoid a possession charge.

@toddlavigne6441 The transcripts were available a long time ago. Floyd complained many times "I can't breath" when no one had a hand on him.

Anne Liesveld It would have helped if Floyd told them the truth, that he was on drugs. He told them he was foaming at the mouth because he was playing basketball.
