The US conquered Afghanistan in a month. We left because it's impossible to build as a nation, and we don't want it.

@tarync6539 It was a minor thing at this point. The US only had 2500 troops in Afghanistan the last 2 years. The US military budget is over 700 billion.

@brandonwisco Biden is a fool. Trump signed a peace agreement last August. But a peace agreement is CONDITIONAL. Biden changed it to an unconditional agreement, ie no conditions on the Taliban. And now they're blaming Trump for setting the withdrawal. They were probably thinking that requiring the Taliban to follow the agreement would keep us there forever. But that's no reason to just cut and run without getting our people and equipment out.

@joeleonard9965 The civil war will resume. The Tajik Afghans controlled a portion of the country before the 2001 invasion. The 2001 basically consisted of defeating the Taliban with them on the ground and heavy air support from the US.

@Paiadakine Apparently, they were fighting. There were over 50,000 Afghan casualties to the few thousand Nato. With air and logistical support they would have kept the Taliban away from the cities. Biden is just an incompetent asshole. He even blew up children and an aid worker distributing water, as a "show of force".

This US failure was completely self-inflicted. The US military would defeat the Taliban with 1/100 th of its forces. Biden just abandoned the cause. That was due to public pressure, but he didn't have to be so irresponsible in the execution.

@MegaLiamsi The US conquered the Taliban in less that 2 months. Even just 2500 troops kept a stalemate, until Biden just quit.

@leothelion9124 The Taliban didn't take over until this summer. Bringing up Trump is a pathetic excuse. Biden didn't follow the peace agreement. And just allowed the Taliban to walk all over the US and the Afghan government. The Biden administration is right now negotiating with the Taliban. This difference is now they have no leverage. They're literally begging the Taliban to let people make it to the airport. BTW. The peace agreement mentions whenever the Taliban is referred to the the US does not recognize them as a legitimate government. Biden has promoted them to recognized government of Afghanistan 20 years after 911. Good job.
