The charges in this case don't make any sense. A hush money payment isn't illegal. A debate over whether or not it was a campaign expense doesn't make it illegal. The FEC concluded that it was not a campaign expense. If it were an expense, that wouldn't be a crime either. Campaigns fail to report expenses, because what is a campaign expense and what is a personal expense is not always clear. It's a violation that carries a fine. But again, the FEC concluded that it was a personal expense. This case is just a desperate, and highly inappropriate attempt to go after a particular man.

This case is just a political stunt to get a conviction from a biased Manhattan jury, and then it will of course be overturned on appeal. The judge's family is politically fundraising on the case. They're working on the false assumption that these kangaroo cases hurt Trump politically.

@rgee3972 So? Jack Smith convicted a VA governor of bribery, i.e. an actual jury found him guilty. And it was overturn unanimously by the Supreme Court. The CO Supreme Court played politics and ruled that the 14th Amendment could be used to remove, summarily, a candidate from the ballot. And the SC ruled unanimously against them. You can have the best constitution, the best laws, etc. But it means nothing if the courts are run by clowns. The judge in this case knows he's a goof. His family is raising millions for the Schiff campaign off of the case.
