  1. "DC has the right to govern itself" Not really. DC is a federal district, which is governed by the federal government. If the US capitol were in a state, the state government would have power over the federal government. It's always striking how smart the founders and framers were, compared to how dumb people are today.

  2. As the seat of the federal government, Washington DC should be tougher on crime than normal cities. Of course there will be protests that get out of hand, as always. But for street crime, it should be like Singapore.
