They're not going to investigate the cocaine, because Hunter is on probation for gun and tax charges. A probation violation would sent him to jail.

I think you can get diversion treatment, if it's only for personal use. The judge makes you attend a drug treatment course, after completion the charge is dropped.

@Pussmash It also depends where you are. If you're busted for simple possession on the west coast, you wont go to jail, unless there are other charges or a prior record.

@Pussmash I don't know which states are tough and which are lax. Joe Biden was a notorious drug warrior in the 80s and 90s. He passed the federal guideline that 5g of crack is a mandatory 5 years. Hunter is on video weighing 25g. The guy just knows he can get away with anything. With marijuana it varied greatly. But getting caught with a personal stash in OK or TX would still get you "diversion" --the defendant completes a drug education course and gets the charge dropped. Of course, Hunter Biden would never follow the judge's rules.

Hunter would go to jail if he weren't protected. He's on probation for the gun and tax plea deal. Cocaine possession would send him to jail.
