Merrick Garland is in much more jeopardy than Trump. You'd don't just raid an ex-president and your bosses main political opponent past and future, and not cover your bases. We've even seen the official memos from Jan 2021 declassifying the documents.

@damiannelson9820 I'm concluding that, because the gossip on the left, speculation as to how Trump is in trouble, is totally preposterous. They're claiming that Trump sold "nuclear secrets" to the Saudis. "Nuclear secrets" is so overly broad, and the White House doesn't have technical scientific documents. And an ex-president can't get "caught with taking classified documents" from the White House. Because the president has plenary power to declassify documents, just by decree, and Trump said he did. Any president when packing documents will just declare everything he's taking to be declassified. Garland is acting grossly unethically. There's extreme conflict of interest, and no potential prosecution, while acting as if there is. He should be impeached.

@damiannelson9820 "The other thing that I think you may be overlooking is that the documents that Trump had in his possession were government property, as per the presidential records act, " But that's not a criminal code. That would never result in an FBI raid. These issues come up with every president. Clinton had a tape that the archives requested; he argued that it was personal property, because it was memorabilia to him, and they relented. You're confirming my point. There are other issues, eg. some documents could be attorney client privilege, executive privilege. Garland's actions were unprecedented, and obviously politically motivated.

@damiannelson9820 He should be held accountable for actions that weren't predicated. If you're going to send the FBI to raid an ex-president, you better have probable cause for a very serious crime. And almost certainly he doesn't. Also, there's an extreme conflict of interest. He sent the FBI after the main challenger of his boss. Any non-slime ball would recuse himself. I would have thought these issues would be obvious to anyone.

@damiannelson9820 Except this isn't proceeding as criminal investigations go. Because it's a fishing expedition, and completely politically motivated, thus an unethical farce. Prosecutors get their case together, then they do the raid. Here they had some vague list of crimes, went to a judge who hates Trump and did the raid. Again, they can't prosecute for having "highly classified nuclear secrets" because Trump obviously declassified everything when he took it. A real prosecution doesn't have BS that will obviously be thrown out in court. The president has universal authority on declassification. He can declassify anything just by saying it is.

@damiannelson9820 "just that there is probable cause of criminal activity. " No, it doesn't. The FBI got warrants to spy on Carter Paige without any evidence. The whole Mueller investigation started by corrupt FBI agents releasing BS to the media and using media reports to base suspicion that "Trump was colluding with Russia". The original basis was a dossier full of Russian disinformation paid for by the Clinton campaign, by a drunken ex British spy. They did the same thing with the fake Alphabank and Deutsche Bank investigations.

@damiannelson9820 For God's sakes, we know in documented facts that the Crossfire Hurricane investigation was cooked up just to get Trump. It's in the emails of FBI agents. And now we're supposed to pretend that this is genuine, and they're trustworthy? That's not how it works. And, what do you know, the documents they took included the declassified Crossfire Hurricane documents. That the FBI and DOJ don't want published. You judge people consistently with their behavior, not despite it. The FBI/DOJ wanted some potentially embarrassing documents that Trump declassified. So they leaked the lie to the press "Trump has nuclear secrets" and got a warrant. That last I read is that the affidavit includes the media reports as a basis. Laundered through the media, just like Russiagate.

They fact that they claim this is over "highly classified documents" basically proves this is BS. Trump obviously declassified everything he took. Any president can do that merely be decree.
