  1. Silent Running is actually way over rated. After murdering his shipmates to save his "forest" the Bruce Dern character takes his ship out past Saturn. All of his plants start dying, and there is a scene of him investigating this big mystery--until he remembers that plants need light to survive. Saturn is 10 times the distance from the sun as Earth, so there is just 1/100 the light intensity. It's basically the Unabomber in space, if he were retarded.
