  1. Several electors in 2016 went faithless. But it's not a big risk, because parties choose very loyal partisans as electors. When stupid Hollywood "liberals" called for electors to betray the voters and not vote for Trump, they were calling for Republicans to betray Republican voters. It could happen, but it would be an internal party betrayal, which would be more likely to happen in the Democratic party because they have a tendency to rig the primaries.
