  1. The Taliban is basically a Pakistan proxy. They're not going to be fighting with Pakistan. It's because Pakistan wants to control Afghanistan because the disputed region, Kashmir, sits between Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. It's a circle of military support. US supports Pakistan, Pakistan supports the Taliban, US supported Afghan army which fights the Taliban. Still, keeping Pakistan from controlling Afghanistan was worth 2500 troops and air support.

  2.  @Ryan-tn4gk  There was not a single US death from Pompeo meeting the Taliban in Qatar in 2020 until Biden's disasterous withdrawal. Biden doesn't get credit, anymore than a surgeon who kills a patient because "he had the courage to operate". Actually, Biden didn't have the courage to change course when his plan proved to be a mistake. Why not put enough troops in to secure Kabul so that we can get everyone out. Instead over 200 people died directly because Kabul had fallen and people were trying to get out.

  3. I can't really speak for the soldiers. But I think most of them want some risk and heroics to what they do. If you send in commandoes, eg the Bin Laden raid, they're risking their lives, but they'd rather do that than bomb or drone a target and kill children. It's disturbing the Biden thinks it's better to just drone strike a target, killing innocent people most of the time.
