  1. That's normally what happens. Many people from China and other countries come to the US for college or graduate school. Many have kids. Those kids get birthright citizenship. But their parents do not get citizenship. So they go back to their home country after their parents' visas expire. That normally wouldn't be an issue, but the US is unique in the birthright citizenship.
