  1. Our space program was headed by the former Nazi rocket scientist Wernher von Braun. I'm not sure how "high ranking" Sturnbahnfurher was. He looked like a Nazi ideal, unlike a lot of them, tall handsome, blond. They concluded that he wasn't involved directly in atrocities; another who also worked on the Saturn V, Arthur L.H. Rudolph was deported and stripped of US citizenship.

  2.  @borisgurevich5504  The internet is telling me he was SS-Sturmbannführer, which was equivalent to major. Though I think he was an engineer, not really involved in politics.
