I'm suspect about this bill. 1) I heard that it makes minor injuries, cuts and bruises a hate crime. 2) Lynching wasn't always a hate crime. It's only associated with blacks because of the rise of the Klan in the early 20th century. A "lynching" is an extra-judicial execution; race isn't in the definition. Before the rise of the Klan most people lynched were white. And there hasn't been a lynching since 1981. The practice had already died out (mostly) by the 1950s.

This law is just a stunt to appeal to low information voters. First, there hasn't been a lynching in over 40 years. Second, they seemed to be concerned with race motivated murders. That's already a capital crime. Third, "lynching" refers to an extra-judicial execution, mob justice -- and that's something the left is fond of in principle.
