  1. It's funny people comparing it to a Porsche or Ferrari V8. It's a utility vehicle, not a sports car. You want torque from 1000-3500 rpm. The hp doesn't even matter. I had a 6.2 liter diesel truck, and it was the best truck I've driven. It had an absurd sounding 130 hp rating. But I was able to tow a trailer with a tractor on it.

  2.  @iI_Principe  My point is just that it worked better than a comparable gasoline engine, with much higher ratings. The numbers can be misleading. Diesels tend to work better for a heavy truck.

  3. They did have automatically locking hubs back then, so you only needed to shift to 4wd. Then you unlocked the hubs by shifting to 2wd and backing up, if I recall.

  4.  @jerryjeromehawkins1712  They had automatically locking hubs. If I recall correctly, you unlock them by shifting out of 4wd and back up. My dad had a 1982 6.2L diesel 4wd 3/4 tonne GMC with the 4 speed with the "L" gear. It was the best truck I ever drove. The diesel had an unimpressive power rating, but we towed a full sized MF tractor on a flatbed behind it once and it barely slowed it down.

  5. It should have more pep with a 350. A truck version should have about 200 net hp and 300 net ft lbs of torque. A hot rod version would be about 300 hp.

  7. It looks like a good car. But I want a performance car to be raw and simple, i.e. mechanical gauges not digital displays. And these cars always get bigger and heavier. The 1960s mustang was 3000 lbs and this has grown to 3800.

  8. It has a 5L V8 which is small for and old school SUV. It should have at least a 5.7L or even better a 7.4 L.

  9. I'm starting to think that electric cars are decadent. Wealthy progressives are always telling you to buy them. They cost more than gasoline cars. Lithium ion batteries involve environmentally destructive mining, and are highly toxic waste. And they will overtax a weak power grid in blue states, eg CA. A natural gas powered car would be the cleanest. Seriously, does anyone think these virtue signaling progressives, who living in Martha's Vineyard, produce less pollution than normal people?

  12. Horse power is not a good metric for a truck. Put the Toyota or Volvo engine in it and it would run much worse. It needs a lot of torque at low engine speeds, and ability to take loads.
