It's funny people comparing it to a Porsche or Ferrari V8. It's a utility vehicle, not a sports car. You want torque from 1000-3500 rpm. The hp doesn't even matter. I had a 6.2 liter diesel truck, and it was the best truck I've driven. It had an absurd sounding 130 hp rating. But I was able to tow a trailer with a tractor on it.

@iI_Principe My point is just that it worked better than a comparable gasoline engine, with much higher ratings. The numbers can be misleading. Diesels tend to work better for a heavy truck.

It should have more pep with a 350. A truck version should have about 200 net hp and 300 net ft lbs of torque. A hot rod version would be about 300 hp.

Horse power is not a good metric for a truck. Put the Toyota or Volvo engine in it and it would run much worse. It needs a lot of torque at low engine speeds, and ability to take loads.
