They're here illegally just by how they came. It's a crime to just cross the border with no authorization by DHS agents. For example, if you have your own plane, and you want to fly to Canada or Mexico, you need to call their border agency and arrange to have them meet you at the airport to check your passport and/or visa, and possibly search the plane. If you don't do that, or if you say just drive across the US/Canadian border through a neighborhood, you will get arrested.

Um...who's lying? Try entering the US from Canada by cutting through a neighborhood in Bellingham, or across a pasture in a rural area, and then try telling the police, who are alerted by the motion detectors, how "legal" it is. "But officer, this douche on YT told me it was legal."

Pakman is lying again. They crossed the border illegally. It's a federal misdemeanor to cross someone besides a point of entry, with DHS agents to stamp your passport. Less than 1% of people entering have a legitimate asylum claim. It's also international convention that you apply at the first safe country. We know why they didn't apply in Mexico. It's because they're not seeking asylum, but want to immigrate to the US.
2
Dude. Try crossing into the US from Quebec across a pasture instead of passport checkpoint. Then tell the police who pick you up because you triggered the motion detectors how "legal it is".
2
You guys are ridiculous. It's a crime to enter the US other than a passport checkpoint. Try driving from British Columbia to WA through a neighborhood street in Bellingham and see what happens. Try telling the cop, alerted by the motion detectors, that Dave Pakman told me it was legal.

Entering anywhere besides a point of entry, ie passport control, is a federal crime. You have to have a visa, green card or be a citizen for it to be legal.

@darkgalaxy5548 This is all a barrage of lies, by the democrats whom got humiliated by Desantis. Work visas are employer sponsored visas. You can't just apply for a work visa. You also need to go to a US consulate to apply. There are no US consulates inside the US.
1
@CatherinePearl100 It's a crime to cross the border avoiding a passport checkpoint. They should apply for asylum at the US consulate in Venezuela. Answer this: Why didn't they do that? One is supposed to apply for asylum at the "first safe country". In stead they traveled through Mexico, so they should have applied for asylum in Mexico.
1
So Pakman is lying. It's not legal.
1
@vic5015 Under that same treaty they're obligated to apply for asylum at the first safe country. That argument is a charade. Only 0.5% of those crossing have a legitimate asylum claim.
1
Cubans could defect. There's no such situation with Venezuela. They just apply for asylum to game the system.
1
Pakman isn't an honest commentator. He knows he's lying. If they were actually asylum seekers, they would go to the US consulate in Venezuela and apply.

@emailchrismoll 1. Irrelevant. If you don't cross at a legal point of entry, you'll get arrested for a crime. 2. They're not here legally. That a common talking point and a lie. You need a visa to enter legally from Venezuela, and those a difficult to get. 3. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. They got a free chartered flight, free food and free clothes. What is with this worship of the illegally imported future voters you guys are bringing in?
1
@emailchrismoll "you definitely don't need a passport to travel from canada to the US" It's not relevant to the discussion. But Canadians need a passport to enter the US. They just don't need a visa, usually, just to enter. If you just cross, say across a field, drive across a side street, or fly a small plane without notifying the immigration authorities, they'll arrest you.

Give me a break. The Democrats are non-stop suing and trying to prosecute their political enemies. But does it go anywhere (making up BS dirt)? Look up D. Trump's criminal record, or Desantis'. Andrew Gillum is probably going to jail, because of campaign funding fraud.
