@Bird22 You don't know this subject. "EVERY SINGLE THING our government does has to be put in writing to be valid." That's not true. The Supreme Court has ruled repeatedly that the president as C in C has the final authority to declassify anything. This is also codified in statutes and executive orders. Look up Politifact fact check on James Risch stated on May 15, 2017 in remarks to reporters: "The minute the president speaks about it to someone, he has the ability to declassify anything at any time without any process." Fact check "mostly true" And this is from people notoriously biased to the bureaucratic state.

They need to be put in a "transitional state".

The DOJ leaks talking points which rile up the ignorant. Constitutional laws is clear. The president has absolute authority to declassify documents.

@Bird22 The president can declassify anything just by his actions. The written process is to classify it for others who aren't the president. Say Obama leans over to Medved and says "I will have more leeway in negotiations after the election." If that was classified information, then he just declassified it then. People can dislike it, but he'd be completely within his authority.

He's free to declassify anything and make it available to the public. That's what I think this is about. The NARA s-cked off Obama. And Obama never made his declassified records available to the public. The bureaucratic state wants things classified.
