  1. This whole trial is just sad. Trump's employees correctly recorded a legal expense as a legal expense. Per the FEC conclusion, an expense is only a campaign expense if it is only made for campaigning. Buying a suit or getting a haircut would properly be a personal expense, because one buys those things when they're not campaigning. If Trump had recorded it as a campaign expense, then they would be prosecuting him for an illegal campaign expense.
