What makes a European country a desirable place to live has nothing to do with politics.   France has the best living conditions because it's a beautiful country, while Sweden and Norway are cold and grim.  If you get a bad disease as a citizen of Sweden or UK almost the same thing will happen to you as in the US.  You get treated.  In the former you are more secure from costs, while in the latter you have better access to advanced treatments.
