I'd like to hear about here plan for making a living, besides working for someone else (at slave wages) or starting your own business? In the USSR the government would assign you a job, and you'd make just enough to pay rent and shop at poorly stocked stores.

"No one person should own the oil deposits." No one person owns it, unless the government nationalizes it. My Dad and his brother own a share of an oil well and they get a check each month.

@ActualJusticeWarrior Didn't NY ban fracking? So not so much in your state. They only give you 1/8 of total sales of the oil/gas. But that can be many thousands per month. The well is in Oklahoma. It had a lame well that wasn't producing anything in the 1980s. But the new drilling techniques, fracking and horizontal drilling, are much more productive.

@frankvonfrauner The Soviet Union just collapsed in the 1980s because it was this huge country, with a population of the USA. But with an economy smaller than Japan. And a great deal of their feeble economy was military equipment. They spent over 1/4 of their GDP on weapons, and lost the arms race to the USA spending 4%. This girl is ridiculous. As Sean said, she's repeating old ideas that fail every time. China doesn't follow this model.

And though 1/8 doesn't sound like a good share. The land owners don't have any costs or losses. When the oil company drills a dry hole, they lose money.
