I had a NY cop tell me (about 15 years ago) that according to state law, hitting someone is a misdemeanor, unless it leave a mark such as bruising, then it's a felony. So unless they changed the laws, this DA should be charging him with a felony just for assault.

This is unbelievable. Can DA's even get away with this? If the victim dies, it will be a misdemeanor, out on no bail, for murder.

The DA is obviously grossly under charging the perp. NY has 1st and 2nd degree assault which are both felonies. And putting a victim in a coma is 1st degree. It's way bizarre that these wokers actually identify with these thugs. There was a teen car jacker in New Orleans who robbed three women. And the mayor herself showed up at the sentencing hearing to defend the carjacker. And as Sean remarked, these crimes are cowardly even for crimes. They attack people who can't defend themselves. The carjacking victims were women, because you're less likely to fight back. In LA if you pull a gun on someone, you might just get shot.

@squidlipssupreme168 How is he wrong? Just hitting someone not causing a bruise is a misdemeanor. If you hit someone and it leaves a bruise or more serious injury then it's a felony. And he wasn't a "cop buddy". I was attacked by a psycho so I talked to a cop.
