  1. Some friends of mine in China were worried about my family because they read articles in their media about "far right fascist protests in Portland". I had to explain to them that it wasn't "far right" or "fascist", but just a small group of patriot Trump voters. The Chinese media coverage (about what is a non-story internationally) is the same as Huffington Post, CNN, MSNBC, etc.

  2. Mainland China is only kind of formally communist. Their economy is capitalistic. And they even have lower taxes, and fewer social services (no medicare, medicaid or social security) than the U.S. They're protesting losing their democratic rights.
