The USSR was spending 17% of its GDP on the military, compared to the US spending 4%.

It's very strange hearing him say "Give him some slack." referring to Stalin who rivals Hitler in non-combatant civilian deaths caused by his oppression and policies.

@ActualJusticeWarrior I had to mention it. Because every leftist will bring up the military budget to shame us for not spending more public money welfare. North Korea spends 25% of its GDP on the military. Has there ever been a totalitarian government that didn't make military spending its first priority?

He even even has the same accent and mannerisms as Bernie Sanders.

@therightone5708 A lot of the progressive Democrats are sympathetic to communism. But it's out of naivete. Those countries never had good government benefits, or any policies which were remotely progressive except for industry killing nationalization. They confuse it with countries like Denmark. It's generous welfare system is paid for by very high personal income taxes. They have high economic freedom. But every far left Democrat subscribes to the Venezuela model--go after the big bad corporations, until there are no jobs.

Russia was an Allied Power in WW1. The Allied Powers won, defeating the Central Powers.

George Bush That's mostly because the US has a massive economy. The US military spending is 3.4% of GDP. That's less than Russia, Israel and Saudi Arabia. It's greater than European countries, which are around 2%, partly because those countries rely on the US for security.

@dg8366 That's 25% of it's GDP, dummy. Do you know what a percentage means. Poor countries which can barely feed their populations shouldn't spend their budgets on missiles.

20:00 The Chinese became an economic power and have had high growth after they adopted free market capitalism. China doesn't even have any social security like he US. You either have to get health insurance from your employer, buy it when you're young and healthy, or have the wealth to pay for hospital treatment. Otherwise you're SOL. And you can't just go to the hospital and rack up bills like in the US; you have to pay up front.

@SMacCuUladh But WW2 was kind of a phyrrhic victor. Russia suffered the most losses in WW2. There's a reason why Hitler and others killed themselves rather than be captured by Russians.

@annatardlordofderps9181 I'm skeptical about Wolf's repeated assertion that the revolutionaries were "super smart" and the USSR is impressive for lasting 70 years. The USA has existed for 245 years. Stalin was so ruthless that he executed most of his generals in WW2.

Economic powerhouse? The USSR didn't produce anything except military equipment, planes and tanks, arming countries that western powers didn't want to sell to, Iraq, Iran.

I think a lot of people, particularly leftists, are misinformed about China. The U.S. is a socialist country compared to China. There are just a few remnants of communism involving land ownership, and the banks all being tied to the government. But other than that it's capitalism as in 1920's America. They have a lot of unkind policies regarding health insurance, and mortgages, which would be considered far rightwing in the US.

George Bush LOL I made over 100k in the last 4 years from investments. Lefties really are just incompetent at life. Getting money without working is NOT slavery.
