I think you're thinking of high security state prisons. Federal prisons are nicer and safer. And in the high security federal prisons that have killers and terrorist the prisoners are not allowed to interact.

@rrr536 The Federal Prisons are nicer than the state prisons. You're more likely to get shanked, raped, etc. in a state prison. I talked to a guy who spent 3 years in the Federal Pen for "conspiracy to purchase 100 lbs of pot". He said it was just like a high school: A cafeteria, a library, and a gym with a big score board.

@rrr536 Most of the federal prisoners are in for economic crimes like drugs, securities fraud, or corruption. Ordinary criminals, robbers, murderers, etc. go to the state prisons. The maximum security federal pens hold people like Ramsey Yusef, Terry Nicholes, which are held in solitary.

It's weird how everything has gone so leftwing. In the 90s people were sympathetic with going soft on minor nuisance crimes, drug dealing, prostitution. But now we have Soros DA who routinely let people out who have committed serious violent crimes, and felony property crimes.
