  2. The United States in the 1950s and 1960s used to assassinate dictators and foreign leaders (mostly in South America). It usually only made the situations worse. Since the 1970s, the United States does not do this anymore. If Putin was killed, there would be a power struggle and we do not know who would replace him or how that nation would react (with the use of nuclear weapons). So western intelligence agents are waiting for Russia's own people to rise up and kill Putin.
