Sick Americans want to hold everyone to their countries standard: the country that has Hooter's Sunday... "Most countries sticking out your tongue would be considered a bit rude, but in Tibet it's a way of greeting. It has been a tradition since the 9th century, the time of an unpopular king called Lang Darma, who was known for his black tongue. People in Tibet, thought that the king had been reborn, so to prove they weren't the king, they would show their tongues. The traditional greeting is now a form of respect."

I just don't believe the Dalai Lama is a p**0: he has been one of the most documented and constantly accompanied people for 80+ years. So I don't think the first time we would hear about anything like this happening is from when he was on stage in front of loads of people. I can't explain what happened (like you I have only read a transcript) and it doesn't sound in any way appropriate, but to surmise that the man is and has always been a danger to children is bonkers to me. I guess we'll just have to wait for all the other victims to come out now before we nail him to a cross.

@TheGuiltsOfUs you are absolutely right! Nothing to do with politics, it's just he has a lot of previous questionable sexual behaviour, accusations and court cases and the Dalai Lama has NONE. Plus he has none of the D.L. mitigating circumstances. Baad comparison my dude!

user-df7dc1gt5m But this is the Dalai Lama we are talking about. One of the most documented people on the planet. You think this just started in his 80's, because it sure as hell has never been mentioned before. Seems more likely this is some variety of misunderstanding

@XParasiteOctoling My original point was simply that other cultures can often be an anathema to us. I'm not excusing "tongue sucking", but I am just trying to contextualise it with respect to other seemingly inappropriate cultural practices & customs.
1
@starsiegeRoks the greeting i mentioned was ONLY to give you an example of a seemingly strange unknown custom. Apologies, I meant Hooter's family day (not sure if it is on a Sunday or not?) That all aside: I just don't believe the Dalai Lama is a p**0: he has been one of the most documented and constantly accompanied people for 80+ years. @jennylee8571 sounds much more normal than some of the antics America gets up to, and that's the truth. Much rather a child shared a misinterpreted joke with an old man, than have a 6 year old take a loaded gun to school and MURDER HIS TEACHER.
1
@jennylee8571 Some might even say puritanical hypocrites with sex rot on the brain.
