Well we do know if every wealthy country followed the path of Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand we wouldn't have such a problem because we could be helping those countries with less capacity to deal with the problem. Taking a holistic approach should the countries I mentioned have just not bothered because other countries were going to fail anyway? I think not and containment will still work out the best. All the other partial lockdown countries will continue to have a higher level of problems I think and if we want to just give up and allow thousands or even tens of thousands of deaths we can choose that any time.
