I am starting to understand why some countries having so many difficulties. In Australia the day after the variant was announced this discussion was already occurring and even the Australian Chief Medical Officer said that this could be a good thing if it's less deadly. The South African Lady Dr was also on our news stating it. I find it really strange how others criticize Australia or any country in our region for that matter regarding our response. I also realize how important being open with the public is. The UK isn't as bad as some others though.

@mcn6447 Being open and honest with the public is the tactic used in Australia and the Western Pacific WHO region in general and it's worked extremely well. Deaths on a per Capita basis are less than 10% of that in the European WHO region. The UK isn't too bad in a relative sense but if you look at the US and large numbers of European countries they aren't that open with the public. Not being open with the public causes problem after problem, starting with voluntary compliance which doesn't work ending up with harsh lockdowns for the masses, rich can just fly to another country no problems creating more discontent. In Australia 9 recorded deaths from the AZ vaccine but because open about the situation most states and territories now over 90% vaccinated for 16+ using Pfizer mostly for younger age groups. I think the UK is doing the right thing now better to be a little cautious than just ignore the problem like in the beginning.
