  2. Australia is a federation and the states run the response. Western Australia pretty much has a hard border, the most hardline of our states. 4 states plus the Northern Territory in the beginning shut all borders , only New South Wales and Victoria had somewhat more relaxed policies and wanting others to keep borders open. Now if you look at Victoria the state that had the relaxed approach before that has completely changed, truth is if they can leave Victoria at all they need to go into government supervised hotel quarantine at their cost. 4 people , 3 in Western Australia and 1 in Queensland are currently serving prison terms for breaking restrictions, not exactly a relaxed approach I would suggest.

  3.  @thefuture5386  How does saying China has succeeded at containment of the outbreak make one a Chinese apologist? The one person who people are apologists for is Donald Trump. He believes at least according to his own rhetoric that the US is truly inferior because he had months to plan and let the virus go into every state with no containment measures in place and sending the infectious people to countries like Australia. Same applies to other rich countries however they don't have leaders that claim China could have done something they couldn't.

  7.  @marjolainezhong3654  There were medical staff that travelled from other parts of the US to New York so it's not like everyone in the US is like the commenter suggests but there are too many for an effective and comprehensive response.

  8. On this issue the UK and US certainly suck however on other issues they are certainly much better than China.
