There's worse countries out there. Of course to wealthy people in free countries it looks bad and is by our standards but the same can be said of about 100 other countries. Look at life expectancy of North Korea and it's not too bad by world standards.

@devrusso Yes many people in wealthy countries have lack of empathy about what it means to potentially starve or die because no medical care. With both North Korea and definitely China they remember the 90s when there was mass starvation. While China often has ridiculous outright propaganda they also tell the world what they are doing in relation to social welfare. It's only been 3 or 4 years that nobody fears starvation anymore and basic schooling is now a right. I watched a couple of clips about this on CGTN YouTube channel, the people saying now my children get to go to school and have some income, the Chinese way is to provide a state sponsored job at a very low rate not just cash handouts. So those people particularly in rural areas of China are happy because they better off than before, city people have been doing ok for a long time. It's often about trajectory, a US citizen might be far better off but many have been left behind with modern industrial and communications revolutions so they are unhappy, they want that dead end factory job with fairly good income back but it's not coming back.

I was thinking that media outside and inside the US don't really know what's happening inside the US and even if they do the internal US media is about as biased towards their favoured political party as NK State TV.
