I don't think he understands the way it works here, while Victoria might be taking a minor risk it's virtually no risk to other states because if it became 10 cases a day every other state would shut the border. I think the presenter doesn't realise travel between New York and London is easier than interstate in Australia if any real outbreak. The state opposition leader was just being opportunistic and would hold the tournament too , but about the only benefit of being in the opposition a comment like that can only have benefits politically if something does happen and if nothing happens it doesn't count against them. In Australian states if there is between 1 case to about 10 cases depending on the state restrictions get put in "out of an abundance of caution" , have watched some of the state governors in the US and it's like if there state has hospitals at 90% capacity with hundreds of daily cases they do something "out of an abundance of caution". Australia , New Zealand, Taiwan, Vietnam and to a similar extent South Korea and Japan speak a different language to the US and most European countries.
