There might be a difficulty, if the airlines refuse to take him because he's unvaccinated. Not saying that will happen, it's better for him and Australia that he leaves fairly quickly so how they work it out I don't know.

@andyforshaw8489 If one is allowed all will be allowed and we don't want unvaccinated foreigner filling up our hospitals. We are fortunate we can choose because we are a country with a border.

@MrJamiez I like your Jesus comment, I can think of a good comedy skit. Jesus arrives in Australia and proclaims he has some vaccination exemption as they are doing a random search on his luggage they find undeclared bread, fish and his sandals appear to be made of untreated animal product.....

@andyforshaw8489 While on a personal level at this point in time I don't require hospital care maybe tomorrow or whenever I have a heart attack and if the hospital over capacity I am not going to receive good care am I. Many people obviously require hospital care or elective surgery which is being delayed currently, inviting unvaccinated in would take up more hospital space, it's that simple. The UK I believe is in a worse situation on average than Australia when it comes to elective surgery waiting lists.

@derrydoire1864 Your question is loaded, approximately 67% of the Australian adult population is overweight or obese as of 2017/2018, now if we added other conditions of people who were not overweight or obese and obviously below the age of 70 because if you are older than 70 you automatically have some problem with you. So just using the information available 80% plus of the population has underlying conditions. The number would be extremely small because not many below the age of 50 have died, lots over 70 have died and most in between obviously have some condition. Same goes for every country with a "Western" junk food diet and a good health system where life expectancy is high. If you think 80% of the population probably including your self should be ignored well then you get a death toll like the US on a per capita basis I am talking about.

@andyforshaw8489 I haven't travelled overseas in the past 2 years, have you? I haven't been on lockdown either because border restrictions worked only about 14 weeks lockdown in total and 10 was at the beginning of 2020.

@derrydoire1864 The only country to ban all HIV positive people from entry for a significant period was the US I believe and for long term stays in Australia as in student visa HIV positive are not accepted. These sorts of things are actually normal, it's only ignorance if you and for that matter myself are unaware of entry conditions under what circumstances etc. around the world. People accept rules, maybe you have never travelled outside your free travel region wherever that might be for an extended visa stay. I haven't worked or studied overseas and most people in the world haven't actually.

@mielerodriguez5678 You might personally agree with open borders without restrictions despite every country on earth having some border controls even if not effective but at least consider many countries believe in controlled regulated borders, got nothing to do with whatever you are saying.

While not directly endorsing your idea I can see some benefits, Melbourne is full of lefties and if they couldn't vote it could move our political positions a little to the right on certain issues.

Strange question, does your country allow people about to be deported to just go free? While because of his profile he might not be a "flight" risk and can't just go and hide in the community doing illegal work we just have one rule. It's simple that way.
