Don't be paranoid. It's only 3 days unless it turns out it has spread.

@laurencefraser You are basically making the point of local culture and conditions. People often miss that point. What might work in one place may not work in another. Political leadership I believe plays a big role too. If people are willing to listen to the leader they comply much better. The leader also must seem credible.

@BigRevKev82 With Andrews I do agree with you, I have watched his press conferences for a while, because he has changed policy from being the most open state to the current situation. He also until the current lockdown kept saying how their might be good reasons for the breaches. No doubt some listened to him so they can break rules using his excuses. But to give him credit he says he takes responsibility and was willing to change his let's open up everything and every state should drop travel restrictions, even if other states have put the pressure on, especially NSW who has abandoned the alliance with Victoria against all other states in favour of travel restrictions themselves.

@ryand7828 Australia has many states with different approaches. Victoria and New South Wales were the more relaxed approaches first time round compared to other Australian states which they both criticized particularly my state Queensland. Victoria has gone quiet on the issue and NSW has decided border restrictions are a good idea all of a sudden.

You have essentially laid out Victorian response number 1 a she'll be right mate let's open up quickly everything is under control. You might notice Victoria is now the most restrictive state after being probably the most open and complaining about other states travel restrictions which have now become much tougher.

@User888User It's 3 days for now. Just relax. The only issue I see for now is married men will have to do those things around the house that their wives keep nagging them to do because making excuses is difficult so I feel for them.

@User888User Well at the moment I can become a Kiwi citizen. Maybe I'll escape the madness of Australia to find a new version in NZ. Every trip between Queensland and NZ might have 4 weeks quarantine though between the locations. In either case I can say I come from down under. We are much better than those northern hemispherions.

@Mepica Unhuevo well there's more cases, so I don't know. Until they can track down all the reasonably possible cases same for a while. I hope NZ gets the situation under control quickly and believe they will.

Lord Voldemort The strange thing is , there is no country that I am aware of where there isn't bipartisan agreement about the main premiss to contain or to mitigate. The US they say there is division but not on the main point which is to allow the virus to spread with mitigation only, no hard lockdowns or closed state borders when the state is managing the outbreak if they successful they only slow it down , no intention to stop it. In Australia and NZ it's containment, try to get rid of it and pick any new outbreaks quickly and contain the spread, with lockdowns if required like in Victoria and to a lesser extent Auckland and fairly tight border controls with mandatory quarantine. So no point jailing the opposition if they agree with you.

NZ is just the same as the big 3 Australian states. I think she would have done a ten times better job than Cuomo of New York state.

Maybe in this part of the world we should call it the Victorian virus. People have been gaining illegal entry into Queensland saying they haven't been in Victoria so we have tightened border controls. Even one people smuggler some New South Wales person I think put a friend in the back of his hatchback to sneak across the border. So what you say isn't entirely out of the question lol.
